Dirk Caber – On Being A Cover Model

Today we have a special guest on the blog.  Dirk Caber talks about being a cover model.  I for one am very grateful to him for agreeing to grace the cover of Upside Down.  He was easy to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

UpsideDownMy partner Jesse was so delighted to be approached to be the cover model for the first novel, Inside Out, and I know he was just thrilled when he found out Andrew was hoping I might be on the cover if Upside Down.  Me, I’m an artist by day anyway, a musician and actor, so to be able to contribute to another creative friend’s endeavor means a lot to me.

Joey FLYFOTO (the photographer) and I spent a good two afternoons playing with poses and facial expressions and lighting to get just the right effect, and I think we ultimately nailed it.  Andrew had wanted intense and smoldering, and as the character is a “fixer”, using fingers as a pistol made sense.  Much fun was had!
The best was telling my father that Jesse and I were BOTH now novel cover models.  He knows about our porn careers and is cautiously supportive; he wants copies of both books now!
Lowell Cartwright’s life as a mercenary problem solver has taken its toll, and after one more difficult job, he wants out. For help, he turns to Bull, a soldier of fortune turned club owner—not exactly a friend, but the best chance Lowell has. He visits Bull’s club to scope it out and meets Jeremy Hodgson. The twink captures his attention in a big way. Bull tells Lowell to stay away from the club until he decides whether he can help, so Lowell stays in town. When he spots Jeremy passed out on the floor of a convenience store, he goes to Jeremy’s aid.Lowell piques Jeremy’s interest immediately, pushing all the right buttons. Then, when Jeremy needs help, Lowell’s kindness turns interest into something more.

But trouble comes knocking when Jeremy’s place is bugged. Maybe Lowell’s past is catching up to him, or maybe the danger centers on Jeremy’s roommate Tristan’s mysterious boyfriend. Whatever the source of the problem, the future Lowell and Jeremy hope for doesn’t stand a chance unless they can find a way to protect themselves.

Both covers are awesome as are the books. It has to be said and I am sure will be agreed by others that, the fact that these two are an actual couple just makes it that much better. Don’t ask why just smile and nod… 😉 Andrew knows why…lol So congrats to both Jesse and Dirk on their covers. You both look amazing.

I love both covers! The only thing disappointing about having a Nook Glowlight is that the covers of the ebooks I buy are never in color. It’s almost tempting to buy the paperback versions 🙂

I have read them both and I LOVED them. Jesse and Dirk are such wonderful people. They let a little bit out of themselves all the time(Jesse more so than Dirk) but I love them both anyway. Thanks for writing a great story Andrew! And don’t forget the lemons are coming! Probably about 2-3 months. Sorry you’ll have to wait a little longer.
