Guest: BA Tortuga – It’s All Andrew’s Fault

Hey y’all! I’m BA Tortuga, resident redneck and Andrew Grey’s favorite lesbian. Ask him. I have the t-shirt.

Now, as much as Andrew and I tease one another (and let me tell you, I am currently winning in the gag gift scoreboard. In fact, his birthday present this year? FABULOUS), I have to say that when I need help or advice or a shoulder to talk things out on? Andrew is magical.

Seriously.

For instance, last year we were at the Coastal Magic Convention together, chatting about books and I explained that I was planning the third book in the Release series. It was a mad adventure – a suspense novel with a xenophobic writer, a growly security guard, a serial killer, lots of action.

I’m going on and on, just jabbering away as I’m wont to do, when Andrew cocks his head at me, looks at me, and says, “Honey, can’t you just write me a story about one of Sage’s friends? Please?”

Well, shit.

I have to tell y’all, all it takes is the right sentence at the right time from the right person to set the world on fire.

Dakota was born that second, his poor soul leaving Huntsville Prison and who was there to pick him up? Sage Redding in his pickup, determined not to lose this man he’d been writing to.

It took a little longer for me to find Jayden, but when he showed up he let me know he wasn’t going anywhere and that it was going to be his personal mission to prove to the world that Dakota isn’t who everyone says he is.

Catch and Release is a beautiful book and may well be the best thing I’ve ever written.

It’s also totally Andrew Grey’s fault. Blame him. I do.

Much love, y’all.

BA

Synopsis

catchandreleaseorig-final-01

Dakota Landry just got out of prison after twelve years. If anyone can understand how that feels, it’s his new friend, Sage, who is determined to help him get used to life on the outside—and believes Dakota didn’t commit the crime he was in for.

Jayden Wilson is a former prosecutor who agrees to look into the case at the request of Sage’s lover, Adam. He sets out to prove Dakota is just another “innocent” ex-con, but once they meet, Jayden is more and more convinced Dakota just didn’t do what everyone thinks he did.

Trouble follows Dakota, and nothing is easy as he struggles to figure out how to live, now that he has choices. And Jayden isn’t sure how Dakota, or any lover for that matter, fits into his life. Their path from friendship to romance is a slow one, but Dakota begins to believe he deserves a chance at life, and Jayden falls a little more for Dakota every day. Now they just need to tell each other how they feel.
