Marty is the cover model for Backward and I asked him to write a few thoughts on being a cover model. He is a great guy and takes one heck of a photograph!!!!
Last summer I was contacted by my good friend Jesse Jackman. He mentioned that he had recommended me for a book cover and that he and Dirk had done ones as well. He showed me theirs and I was floored! Such great imagery and the photographer really captured them well. Being a fan of both of them as well as close friends I was touched by their recommendation and enthusiasm for my participation. Of course I could not have imagined getting the opportunity, but wasn’t going to let it pass by. I contacted the photographer and sent him some shots and after a few back and forth’s we set a date for a shoot. Joey Flyphoto could not have been easier to work with. He really makes you feel at ease and I had so much fun with it. As we were shooting we threw around some ideas and came up with the mirror shot. We both thought it looked cool, but wasn’t sure how Andrew was going to think. After a few retakes and flooding him with about a hundred different shots, he found one he loved and brought the book to life with me on the cover. I am thrilled to be part of this process and to see the final work. I cannot say enough positive things about the experience, and am truly honored. I must add that not only do all three covers look great, but I’ve already read the first two and can’t wait to get the third! Incredible read, Andrew has an amazing talent of creating a story and bringing it to life.
Many thanks to Andrew, Joey, Jesse and Dirk for making this happen. Thanks guys!!!
