Welcome to Autumn

Its September and I always love this time of year. The heat of summer abates with cooler nights.  I love being able to sleep with the windows open.  Fall is also the start of what I like to call cuddle season.  All summer its too hot, so Dominic and I tend to sleep on our own sides of the bed.  But with the coming of fall, I start to get colder at night and slide closer to Dominic.  Often during the night I end up pressed right against him. Of course as the season wears on, mother nature brings out … Continued

My Mother – Happy Mother’s Day – Okay, I’m a Little Late

I know its the day after Mother’s Day, but I’ve been thinking about my mom a lot lately.  I posted about her on Facebook yesterday and I don’t think it was enough.  Currently my mother is in a nursing home.  A stroke left her unable to use her left arm and leg.  That same stroke also altered her personality and left her impatient, angry, and saying anything that comes to her.  Its not a pretty picture.  Because of distance, I will see my mom today.   What I really want to do is remember my mom for who she was.  … Continued

New Release in Audio

Heat Under Fire just released in audiobook.  This is the fourth story in the By Fire series.  Its firemen and police officers.  What can be better?  Happy listening.  This was the story that really inspired what became the Carlisle Cops series.   Justin Briggs can shout out directions all day on his job as a traffic cop, but put him in front of a hot guy, specifically firefighter Rock Sparks, and he clams up. Rock finds Justin confusing. While saving a busload of children hanging off the edge of a highway overpass, the cute rookie is cool and confident. But … Continued

Book Covers

One of the questions I get asked all the time is about the covers for my books.    Most publishers give the author limited input on the covers for their titles.  Dreamspinner Press is quite different.  Ads part of the production process, each authors fills out a cover request for, to describe our characters and the type of cover we’d like.  Then the art department starts their magic and they go some initial mockups.  As an author we work with our cover artist until we are both happy with the cover.  Sometimes, the process is very fast and other times it … Continued

Got Crabs

I’m at Coastal Magic in Daytona and last night for dinner I went to Joe’s Crab Shack with three amazing ladies.  It was so much fun.  We talked and laughed the entire evening.  I told stories, they shared jokes. I told them all about seventies night on the cruise ship where the fitness center staff played the Village People.  That will definitely get the heart racing.  I also shared Cards Against Humanity nursery rhymes.   We made bad crab puns and innuendo for most of the evening as evidenced by the pictures below.  By the time our meal was over my sides hurt.  … Continued

Pain Enters the Picture

I am currently over 50 and I have led a rather active life.  Dominic and I have hiked 3 miles to a castle in Europe and thought nothing of it.  We spent days walking in the woods, bicycling, and just plain going.  I worked out for years and spent hours and walked miles on treadmills.  At one time I could squat, press, and lift hundreds of pounds.  I like being active.  These last few weeks I have ben in pain.  My doctor is a little stumped as am I.  I got a backache at GRL and it hasn’t stopped since.  … Continued

Happy Halloween

As some of you know, Dominic is an amazing pumpkin carver.  For the last few days he hasn’t been feeling very well, however last night was Trick or Treating and to him that means pumpkins.  So after he got home from work, I heard him downstairs in the kitchen scraping and carving pumpkins.  Now there are two rules for me at this time of year, either help or get out of the way.  I chose the latter.  He was on a tear and I knew I was going to be in the way.   Instead I lay upstairs nursing my aching … Continued
