I Love a Hot Firemen

Like many of you, I love a hot fireman, especially one with a gentle heart under his rugged exterior.  With that in mind, I wrote Fireman’s Cary.  We all know that firemen carry people out of burning buildings, but sometimes it’s the fireman who needs to be carried, even if it’s only in spirit.  Fireman’s Carry is releasing April 18 and is self-published.       Orphaned as a child, Jordan Kramer is a 28-year-old loner who lives for his work as a firefighter. It’s who he is. But his life changes when, on his way home from a fire, … Continued

Everyone Has a Superpower

I really believe that everyone has some sort of superpower.  The thing is that sometimes it just takes us a while to find it and some of us are still looking.  While for some of us, our superpower is right under our noses the entire time.  I also believe that a lot of the time, we don’t recognize our own superpower, but others do.  Among other things, The Doctor’s Desire is about one man’s journey to his superpower.  I really hope you enjoy.     General practitioner Dustin Avarilla has been on the job for a few years—long enough to … Continued

Second Chance Later in Life

My husband and I have been married for over 25 years and I can say with certainty that no relationship is perfect or stays the same.  Time, familiarity, age, complacency sometimes distance, work, all take their toll on a relationship, wearing it down like the sea pounding a rock.  It can’t help but be affected.    I know this firsthand because Dominic and my relationship has changed as well.  But after so many years, its easy to fall into a rut and to take the other for granted. That is why I wrote Second Go Round.  I wanted to show … Continued

Home and Family

I thought I’d give you all a preview of Home and Family.  It released last Tuesday.  I spent part of my teenage years in the country.  I worked with plenty of animals, hauled hay and shoveled enough poo to last a lifetime.  Still it was a happy time.  We didn’t have a lot, but there was space and a chance to explore part of the world.  I remember it fondly.   Excerpt: Mark has worked on Clay and Dell’s farm for a year, and he’s now in charge of the care and feeding of their growing herd of goats. He’s … Continued

Half A Cowboy – A Glimpse Behind the Story

Half a cowboy features a character who uses a cane largely for balance.  Its because of an injury he sustained years earlier.  He came to me because of two friends of mine who use canes to get around.  They are dear friends and amazing people.  And when they shared some of their stories with me about how difficult it can be to navigate the world with a cane, it made me angry.  Very angry.  A lot of the things we take for granted become harder if you need a cane.  For example you only have one hand free.  Or when … Continued

Carlisle Deputies – All Good Things Must End

All good things must come to an end and as much as I hate to say it, Fire and Diamond is the last Carlisle Deputies story.  I have enjoyed all of the stories set in Carlisle.  Its home and I love writing about my home town and the people in it.  Each of these stories was inspired by events where I live or by things I’ve seen.  This particular story came to me after driving past a house in the country that that looked more like a junkyard.  Thankfully, it has since been cleaned up, but elements of this story … Continued
